Tasting advice

How to taste your Champagne?

Thanks to the good storage in a cellar and by respecting a few rules to serve your Champagne, you will finally appreciate its best taste...

The again, you need to abide by a few rules:

  • Always taste your champagne before meals (end morning or afternoon)
  • Avoid strong smells (meals...)

Look at the wine in your glass may tell you a lot a bout the age of the wine:
  • Green gold is often characteristic of a "Blanc de Blancs" (Chardonnay)
  • Pale gold, often a young Champagne
  • Yellow gold or old gold, often a "Blancs de Noir" (Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier) or a mix with a minimum of 80% black grapes
  • Pink, well a pink Champagne (usually)

Now gently turn your wine inside the Glass to see and smell its delicate perfume. These smells can be fruity (lemon, orange, grapefruit...) flourish (peach flower...) vegetal (recently cut grass, forest...) and accessories to cook dishes (dry fruits, grilled almonds, fresh butter, Viennese bread...). By turning the Champagne inside your glass, some "tears" can appear. Click here to discover the facts about these "tears".

Finally, leave the liquid flow in your mouth and appreciate its flourish, fruity and gourmand aromas. You will discover the true warmth, the true vivacity, the true strength, the true maturity and the true lightness of the Champagne.
